Well Danny boy was in town from Chicago, so the first place I could think of for dinner was yep, you guessed it. The Lady Of The House!  As usual The Lad did not disappoint. We dined at the bar as I usually do because the bar is where it happens. John was our barkeep/mixologist and could not have provided a better experience for my bud first timer Danny Boy.
Obviously we ordered the Carrot Filet, a dozen oysters, shrimp butter, and the ham dish...
Thank you to John and staff, you are so put together and so appreciated by us.

Good food and excellent service. I had delicious orange Pinot Grigio and the wonderful carrot steak at the bar, highlights amongst other dishes. Woman chef is an awesome thing, and I'll be back.

But an almost all white staff needs to change!

Fabulously unique with and incredible team!

I've visited a few times, but decided to go vegetarian this time, just because.  We had the Carrot Steak, which is always incredible!  I seriously dream about it.  We also had the Tomato Tartare on Challah, which was very good.  Even better was the Shrimp Butter.  OMG, I don't even know how to describe it.  Just get it and thank me later!

I'm sure the entire serving team is solid, but we had an incredible experience with Cary as our guide.  You would do well to ask for him!  He was knowledgeable, helpful, and also fun.

On the drink menu, notice that they have a section for vermouth!  That's unique!  All of them are very good and it's fun to branch out from the standard wines and cocktails, which they also have.

Nice place. Service was slow (it was a Sunday night), but drinks are good and food is good. We ordered four dishes and all were well executed. Ham croquettes reminded me of the croquettes I used to eat growing up in Belgium... Almost spot on. Roasted oysters were good but a little too salty. Tomato tartare was our favorite, would come back here and get this again. Great umami flavor. Lastly, the lamb Bolognese was also delicious. Comes with polenta cake not pasta--it works. Flavor reminds me of lamb shakshuka.

Drinks were good too. We got the blushing monk, negroni, age old practice, and Antoinette. All were great.

I don't understand the hype around this place.  The service was disappointing for a restaurant at this price point.  We were here on a Saturday evening.  We ordered a cocktail and explained we would like to keep the wine list, as we would want wine with dinner.  The server explained the small plate concept and suggested a number of dishes.  She was very clear that we should order everything at once, so she could pace the flow of the dishes.  This did not occur.
We ordered 3 small plates (the shrimp toast, a soup and the steak tartare) and one of the full sized dishes (pasta).  Another server brought us one of the small plates (a hot dish), immediately followed by 2 other small plates. Yikes!  We were at a small table, and there was not enought room for all these plates! We called our server over and asked her to give us some time before bringing any more food.
Our server came back a few minutes later and asked if we wanted anything else, so this was when we ordered wine.  This was delivered and we continued to eat our now cooling food.  Our server came back and asked if we wanted anything else, and we said we would wait until after we received the rest of our food to decide.  We finished our 3 small plates, and sat for about 20 minutes.  Our server came back again, asking if we wanted anything else.  I was pretty blunt and said we would decide after we received our pasta.  She looked like a deer in the headlights!  She said "oh" and a while later we received our pasta.  By this time we have been sitting in this restaurant for an hour and 15 minutes.  So our server comes back and says she would like to give us dessert.  So we ordered the donut dessert.  This takes another 30 minutes!  We ate a few bites and asked for the bill.  From arrival to the time we walked out to the car - 2 hours and 15 minutes.
OK, so the food was good, but not outstanding.  The shrimp toast was very tasty and if you find yourself here, I recommend it.  It is $16 for toast and a spread, so it should be something pretty outstanding.  But it is a large helping of toast!  I could not eat the soup, it was too spicy (I had asked and was told it was not spicy, but everyones palate is different).  The steak tartare was ok, nothing remarkable.  The pasta was a reasonable portion and flavorful.  The donut dessert was nothing remarkable.
